I don’t know if I can handle that being my last high school theatre rehearsal ever….😥
Bucky’s face here will forever be the worst thing in the world. He’s looking at Steve and he’s so proud of him but there’s also this look in his eyes that says "he doesn’t need me anymore, why would Captain America ever need Bucky Barnes" and it’s all over his face. But when you pay attention to Bucky in the crowd you can see him looking around and taking it all in, taking in the fact that people finally see Steve the way he has always seen him and I CANT TAKE IT ITS DISGUSTING HOW MUCH HE LOVES STEVE AND HAS ALWAYS APPRECIATED HIM AND NOW THE WORLD LOVES HIM AND HE’S OVERWHELMED BUT HE’S ALSO SO SO HAPPY OH MY GODDDDDD
People don’t always pay attention that Bucky was an orphan too. He doesn’t HAVE any family except Steve. Steve always needed him. There was always someone who NEEDED Bucky and Bucky stepped up to that role like a pro. This sweet, sickly kid who is just so genuine and nice relies on him and Bucky has a purpose and he just cares about Steve SO much. Before he leaves for the war his major concern is STEVE, not himself. And suddenly Steve saves HIM and is the hero and you can see Bucky thinking that he’s lost his place in Steve’s life and Steve was all he HAS. Because Steve might have needed Bucky all that time, but Bucky needed Steve too. And there’s this huge shift and Bucky is desperately trying to figure out his place here. But in the end, as he’s watching everyone finally see what he always saw in Steve he starts smiling. Genuinely smiling, not just for Steve’s benefit because Steve isn’t looking at him, but because he’s happy for his best friend. And he might not be sure of his place, but he’s still going to have Steve’s back.
